Hospital Ward Support Scheme Volunteer
The Door to Door scheme is primarily a scheme that takes a patient home after a hospital stay. The role would also involve pre-discharge visits to the patient`s house to prepare the property, including taking delivery of any equipment that may be needed by the patient.
You would provide support to the patient for other journeys such as when attending pre-planned admissions and outpatient appointments with the patient.
This role may also offer offer elderly carers the opportunity of having support to visit their spouse, who they usually care for at home, whilst they are in hospital if this is the only way that they could visit them.

- Good listening and communication skills
- Ability to empathise and ability to be aware of general day to day risk and how to minimise these
The following training is provided to support you in your role:
- Safeguarding Adults
- Managing Conflict
- Understanding capacity
You would need to be available to volunteer once a week
