Mencap Community Connector Project Volunteer Centre Greenwich hosts the Community Connector Project in partnership with National Mencap. The project supports adults with a learning disability in Greenwich to lead happier, healthier and more active lives in their local community. You can be part of this project by volunteering to support the Community Connector's work, or by welcoming the project into your local club or group. What the project does A Community Connector works directly with local sports clubs, day services and activity groups across Greenwich, helping them become more inclusive and accessible for people with a learning disability. This might mean visiting a group to see how it runs, bringing organisers together to share ideas, or helping a club make small, practical changes so more people can take part. The Community Connector also shares opportunities directly with residents, encouraging people to try something new. Trying an activity is a first step, and if it does not suit someone, they are free to try something else. I would like to volunteer with the project If you are friendly, patient, and enjoy helping people feel welcome in new places, you could support the Community Connector's work directly. This might involve joining visits to local groups, helping at Community Connector Forums, or supporting residents to try a new activity for the first time.
