The Emotional Support and Wellbeing Project continue to offer telephone support to the residents of Greenwich suffering from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

From being a listening ear to someone who is very anxious or stressed, to offering practical help, our volunteer well-being advisors are supporting local residents in many different ways.  Clients commented that their weekly telephone calls, have “cheered them up”, and been “a godsend” during these unsettling  times.  Whilst this is an enhanced befriending service the support offered is sometimes very practical, from organising food delivery to getting help for a client whose taps were broken and hadn’t had any water in their home for three days.

The work that this project has carried out since March has been a lifeline to many residents and continues to be so as the uncertainty and challenges of living through Covid-19 affects people’s lives in so many ways.

If you feel you have the skills to volunteer as an Emotional Well-being Volunteer we would love to hear from you. You would need to be able to commit to telephoning someone once a week for up to 45 minutes and to attend mandatory online training for the role.

If you feel that you would like to receive the support of this project please also get in touch.
