Telephone Befriender


During the Coronavirus Pandemic many Greenwich residents have become isolated or are having to shield, this befriending role provides emotional and well-being support.

Befrienders offer a friendly chat and act as well-being advisers to lonely and isolated individuals living in Greenwich.

As a befriender you will be matched with one/two clients and commit to call them at least once a week.

No previous experience is needed but you will need the skills listed below.

You will need:

  • Empathy.
  • Good listening skills.
  • The ability to signpost to other organisations.
  • Confidentiality.

Full training is provided before you start your role and you will receive regular support and supervision.

Essential:

Must be able to volunteer for at least one hour per week.
