Meet John. John is a volunteer befriender and well-being advisor. During Covid he has been supporting two clients for over six months, both of them on a weekly basis offering them both emotional support and a listening ear during the difficult time of having to self-isolate.

This is what John has to say about his role:   

It has been a great privilege to be a volunteer on the befriending service. Getting to know the clients has meant we have built a rapport over time. As well as being primarily a listening service it has been a two-way process, where we have talked about a range of issues and exchanged tips. I have been introduced to a new fish and chip shop and an oven cleaning service. All of this ongoing work is supported by the excellent leadership of Sharon Lines who is very accessible for contact and supervision.
