XLP Volunteer roles XLP Volunteer Bus Driver Our bus project is one of the first projects delivered at XLP. It is a vital part of the charity! We would love more volunteers to help us provide a space for young people to connect and drive our mobile youth bus and interact with young people. You will gain experience working with a top youth work charity; rewarding work with local young people. Willing to learn to drive a double decker bus. Youth work skills during sessions Need a UK driving licence. Number of volunteers required: 2 Click here to register ________________________________________________________________ XLP Youth Mentor Meeting weekly (or fortnightly in some cases) for 1-2 hours, with a young person aged 11-18 who needs a trusted adult in their life to support them. All our mentors are volunteers who are able to support young people in their communities. We provide 8 hours of training for all our mentors before they are matched with a young person. You will receive training and gain skills in befriending and mentoring. We drive our buses, which are fully equipped mobile youth centres, into different estate communities in East London each week. You will have an interest in working with young people. Sessions involve speaking with young people, doing activities with them and playing games. Experience preferred. Number of volunteers required: 6 Click here to register ________________________________________________________________ XLP Online Tutoring - Maths or Literacy Meeting weekly for 1 hour on Zoom, with a young person aged 14-18 who needs a trusted adult in their life to support them.The tutoring programme is targeted towards young people who need support with their Maths and Literacy to be able to pass their GCSEs. All our tutors are volunteers who are able to support young people in their communities. We provide 2 hours of training for all of our tutors before they are matched with a young person.
